Kylian Mbappe chastised AC Milan supporters for how they treated Gianluigi Donnarumma, the PSG goalkeeper, after insults and fictitious currency were thrown at him.

During the Champions League match, Donnarumma faced hostility from Milan supporters who said he left his boyhood club to pursue more money. The extremes even hurled counterfeit money featuring Donnarumma’s image, dubbing him ‘Dollar-umma’. WHAT THEY SAID: “They treated Gigio rather poorly, and there was a lot of noise.” In the mixed zone, he said to TeleLombardia, “I think it was a bit too much, but there you go, that’s football nowadays.”

THE BIGGER PICTURE: Goals from Rafael Leao and Olivier Giroud helped Milan win the three points in front of a boisterous San Siro crowd. Milan Skriniar of PSG had opened the score, but Milan’s will to win ultimately proved to be the difference. Their triumph opened up the Group F qualifying race, with Newcastle United and Borussia Dortmund still fighting for the top two spots.
