GOOD NEWS: Before their match against Brentford, Liverpool suffers a double injury blow, raising concerns about Virgil van Dijk.

Curtis Jones, a midfielder for Liverpool, will not play against Brentford on Sunday. Ryan Gravenberch, a summer addition, may not play against the Bees either because he was left off of the squad for Thursday’s Europa League match in Toulouse.

Jones was not present when the Reds were held to a 1-1 draw at Luton Town on Sunday, but Gravenberch is now a new injury concern as he may be ruled out against Brentford due to a minor knee issue.

Due to illness, Reds captain Virgil van Dijk was left out of the squad for the match against Toulouse; however, manager Jurgen Klopp is optimistic that the important defender will be available for Sunday’s match against Brentford.

Klopp said, “Ryan had a little niggle in his knee.” “It is not a big deal; he was running today [Wednesday], but this game was out of the question. After the international break, Brentford will undoubtedly return, and we hope he has a chance. He isn’t here because of that. Last week, Curtis suffered a hamstring [injury]. Not enormous. He will return after the international break, but not before.

“It’s a very poor quality hamstring. He was in good condition, received a red card, had poor rhythm, and was involved in Europa League games. When I took him off the field against Bournemouth, he didn’t feel anything, but when I went into the dressing room, I believe he felt a slight hamstring strain, so a scan was performed. Very poor grade, but it eliminated him.”
