BREAKING NEWS: Milwaukee Brewers-Detroit Tigers Insider Reveals shocking and surprising secret about Mark Canha trade

Last week, the Milwaukee Brewers and Detroit Tigers agreed to a trade that sent Mark Canha to Detroit and minor league pitcher Blake Holub to Milwaukee. Although this is a done deal, one MLB Insider has revealed the names of two other teams involved in trade talks for him.

Prior to the Milwaukee Brewers and Detroit Tigers deal, MLB Insider Mark Feinsand revealed that the Kansas City Royals and Oakland Athletics were also in talks.

Mark Canha, who spent his first seven MLB seasons with the Oakland Athletics, was reportedly being pursued by his former team. Given their history and the fact that he had a 114 OPS+ while there, it’s easy to see why they’d want to reunite. What doesn’t make much sense is that Oakland would have had to pick up his $11.5 million option for the 2024 season, making him easily the highest paid player on the team.

The Kansas City Royals were also rumored to be interested in him. They liked his high on-base percentage and the quality of his at-bats, according to Mark Feinsand.

Those reasons coincided with what Detroit Tigers executive Scott Harris had to say about him.
Despite the fact that Mark Canha drew interest from multiple teams, the Brewers are likely to have received a similar return regardless of who the trade was executed with. It’s unclear whether the Royals or Athletics had an offer on the table.
