BREAKING NEWS: NFL and Raiders insider details reveal what led to ‘clueless’ Firing of Raiders coach and general manager,

The lack of success by the Las Vegas Raiders under head coach Josh McDaniels ultimately cost him his job. However, culture was a major factor in owner Mark Davis’ decision to start over.

Under McDaniels, Davis believes the “joy” players once felt from being Raiders has faded. Still, one of his former players claims he never got the memo that wearing the silver and black was no longer fun.

“It didn’t bother Josh; he never left the building,” an unnamed Raiders player told SI.com’s Hondo S.                                             Carpenter. “I don’t hate him, I like Josh, and I don’t think he was tone deaf, but I think he was                                                                                        clueless.”

Carpenter spoke with several Raiders, all of whom seemed to have positive things to say about him. However, while the Raiders’ world was collapsing around them, McDaniels was oblivious and naively charged forward with the same plan of attack that had the team treading water at best and regressing at worst.

The team’s direction under McDaniels resulted in frustration, a lost locker room, and a displeased owner.

Davis expressed his concerns to McDaniels before firing him and general manager Dave Ziegler, prompting a team-wide meeting ahead of their Week 8 game against the Detroit Lions.

Several members of the team or coaching staff were reportedly mentioned during the airing of grievances, but McDaniels was also mentioned, leaving him “distant, hurt,” according to another player.

McDaniels was allegedly taken aback by how some members of the team felt, and the meeting, which was intended to clear the air before moving forward, instead made the situation irreparable.

“I felt better, like Josh had heard us, and we all had heard each other, but afterward, I knew it was probably                          f—— worse,” Carpenter stated. “He seemed to be out of it. Like when you get hit in the face and he                                                          has no idea what’s going on.”

It’s a small sample size, but since McDaniels and Ziegler were fired, the Raiders have rallied around another interim head coach in Antonio Pierce. After a 30-6 thrashing of the New York Giants in Week 9, the Raiders are 1-0 under Pierce.

For the time being, being a Raider is enjoyable.
