Michigan football defeated Penn State in the first of three games played without Jim Harbaugh. However, University President Santa Ono received significant backlash for his comments about Harbaugh and the football team. Ono was pleased to see the Wolverines maintain their undefeated record. Especially after Big Ten Commissioner Tony Petitti suspended Jim Harbaugh from coaching for the rest of the season. While celebrating the Michigan football team, Ono took to Twitter to send a message to the college football world.
Over the weekend, numerous members of the University of Michigan family reached out to me, and I wanted to express my gratitude. We, like any other community, face challenges and adversity. There have been numerous instances like this throughout history. But, as our team demonstrated yesterday, we will face any challenge head on, determined to do better and emerge even stronger. “Let’s go Blue!”
Given that the Wolverines are under investigation for an alleged sign-stealing scandal, many college football fans were not pleased with Santa Ono’s message. Despite Michigan’s huge victory, everyone is still upset with Jim Harbaugh and his football team.
