Sherrone Moore, Michigan’s acting football coach, wants the world to know that Jim Harbaugh is a huge part of the team’s success. Michigan football won its 1,000th game Saturday, defeating Maryland 31-24. After the game, the team posed for a photo, and Moore felt Harbaugh should be included.
“We need to edit [Harbaugh] out of [the photo],” Moore said, according to ESPN. “We have the technology in the world today to accomplish that.” Being a part of this university, this place, and this team is historic.”
Moore earned his second straight victory while Harbaugh is suspended from the Big Ten Conference due to an NCAA investigation into whether Michigan football stole signs from other football programs. Harbaugh must sit out yet another game, this time against Ohio State on Saturday. Moore will once again be on the sidelines as Michigan attempts to complete an undefeated season.
“The guys were just ecstatic to get that 1,000th win, but they all knew exactly what time it was after that,” Moore told reporters.
Michigan has overcome an overwhelming number of distractions to reach the College Football Playoff this season. The Wolverines are 11-0 this season and have a chance to play in the Big Ten championship game. Michigan won despite losing their linebackers coach and an analyst due to the NCAA investigation.
Jim Harbaugh would be allowed to return to the team’s coaching staff for the conference championship game or bowl game, whichever comes first. Michigan dropped a legal challenge that would have allowed Harbaugh to coach again during the regular season.
Saturday’s game between Michigan and Ohio State begins at noon Eastern. Both teams are 11-0 in the Big Ten and 8-0 overall.
