DONE DEALS: Montreal PWHL have announce the signing of two sensational defenders

Following the signing of one defender on Monday, the Montreal PWHL announced the signing of two more on Tuesday: Dominika Lásková to a two-year contract and Mariah Keopple to a one-year contract.

Many of the PWHL signings that are still coming in were done a long time ago. As training camps begin their first full week, this brings the total number of defenders signed to contracts to four.
Lásková is the team’s first non-North American player to sign a contract. She is one of three Czechs in the Montreal training camp. In the 2023 PWHL Draft, the 26-year-old was selected in the fourth round, 19th overall. She plays defense with her right hand.

She spent last season with the Toronto Six, making this the team’s third signing in a row. Last season, she had four goals and nine assists in 24 games. Lásková began the season with Lule in the Swedish league, where she scored one goal and had five assists in 13 games.

The Czech has appeared in 25 World Championship games, scoring five goals and providing 11 assists. She also appeared in five games at the Olympics in 2022.

Keopple is Montreal’s second undrafted free agent signing, following forward Sarah Bujold. The 23-year-old Wisconsin native joins the team from Princeton University. In the PWHL, she will make her professional debut.

Last season, the left-handed defender had two goals and 13 assists in 31 games while serving as an alternate captain at Princeton. In 126 games during her NCAA career, she had 12 goals and 40 assists.

She attended Hill-Murray High School in Minnesota before attending Princeton.
