Port Adelaide has added three new players through the National Draft.
After the second night of the AFL Draft, Port Adelaide added three talented youngsters to its roster: Tom Anastasopoulos, Lachlan Charleson, and Will Lorenz.

After trading its future 4th Round pick tied to Essendon with North Melbourne, forward Anastasopoulos’ name was called at pick 48.
Forward Charleson was selected with pick 52 after Port Adelaide traded its future 4th Round pick tied to Carlton with Hawthorn, while midfielder Lorenz was selected with pick 57.

Anastasopoulos, a Geelong Falcons product, is known for his good combination of speed and endurance, as well as his ability to finish in front of goals.

Charleson, who played for Vic Country in the national championships, is a small forward with excellent forward craft and the ability to score.

Lorenz, a former Vic Metro player and AFL Academy member, is a versatile player with good skills who can play half-forward and wing.

Geoff Parker, Port Adelaide’s national recruiting manager, was excited by the club’s newest crop of recruits.

“We look at the trade and draft period in its entirety and we are very happy with the players who we have brought into the club during this period,” said Parker.

Ten draft prospects to watch next season

“During the trade period, our focus was on recruiting key defenders and rucks to strengthen our roster, and tonight at the Draft, we had a clear plan to bring in some high forwards who can push up the ground and score.”

“We believe Tom, Lachlan, and Will have this in them.”

“Tom is a small forward with an excellent combination of speed and endurance.” He can work his way up and back from the forward 50 to the defensive 50, and when given the chance, he’s a very good finisher in front of goal.

“Lachlan is a small forward who has shown exceptional forward craft this season.” He has the ability to score goals, as evidenced by his eight-goal performance against Bendigo earlier this year.

“Will is taller than both Tom and Lachlan and has demonstrated versatility by playing half-forward or pushing higher up the field on a wing. Will also impressed with his foot and hand ball use during the season.”

Port Adelaide will now enter the AFL Rookie Draft with one pick (pick 13).
