JUST IN: Falcons land  high-profile Heisman winner in latest mock draft

Whatever Desmond Ridder does over the next seven games, the Falcons should be looking for a quarterback this offseason.

Arthur Smith and Terry Fontenot cannot enter the 2024 season with only Ridder and Taylor Heinicke in the quarterback room, whether through free agency, a trade, or the draft.

Jayden Daniels will not win the Heisman Trophy for this reason

Many mock drafts have Atlanta selecting a potential franchise quarterback in the form of Bo Nix or J.J. McCarthy, but this mock draft has the Falcons selecting a different high-profile prospect.

According to Fox Sports’ Jason McIntyre, the club will draft LSU’s potential Heisman Trophy winner Jayden Daniels.

Daniels is coming off one of the most impressive games of the season, in which he completed 83% of his passes and scored eight touchdowns on eight consecutive drives while gaining over 500 yards.

Granted, it was against Georgia State, but 8-for-8 is impressive against any opponent. Daniels now leads the nation in total yards (4,591), passing touchdowns (36), total touchdowns (46) and yards per play (10.75) after Saturday’s victory.

Jayden Daniels: The Heisman contender no one's talking about

Jayden Daniels should be the Heisman Trophy favorite. His 208.3 passer efficiency rating and 417.4 yards per game average are the highest of any Heisman Trophy winner. Furthermore, his 8.18 yards per carry on the ground leads all players in the country, and his 1,014 yards are by far the most by a quarterback.

Jayden Daniels is a dream scenario for an LSU alumnus for the Falcons. Obviously, I have a bias in this debate, but Daniels is the best deep ball thrower in the country, and there isn’t a more dynamic quarterback with his legs. There are some things that need to be worked on, but he’s brimming with talent.

Atlanta could do a lot worse than to build around a dynamic athlete like Jayden Daniels.
