As sports betting becomes more popular in the United States, prospective bettors are always looking for an edge in order to pick games and profit. And in their pursuit of an advantage, some sports bettors may be looking to the moon ahead of Thursday’s game between the Detroit Lions and the Green Bay Packers.
As sports statistical analyst Jay Cuda noted on social media this week, the moon phase does not bode well for the Lions’ performance against the Green Bay Packers in their traditional Thanksgiving Day game.
“I have bad news for the Lions,” Cuda began in a post on X, the formerly known as Twitter social media website.
“They are 0-12 (.000) on Thanksgiving since the afl/nfl merger when the moon is waxing gibbous.” Cuda continued in his post, “Tomorrow is a waxing gibbous.”
This is obviously not a good omen for the Lions if you believe in such things, and it elicited a lot of reactions on social media as a result.
