The Yankees like free agent Cody Bellinger but some Yankee people are worried about his hard-hit rate even after his brilliant season.
He seems like the perfect fit as an excellent center fielder who bats left-handed and hit .306 after a couple of rough injury years.
But some analytics apparently work against him (my thought: hard-hit rate favors guys who whiff, aka Joey Gallo, not Bellinger, who hit .279 with two strikes by putting the ball in play).
The Yankees are of course also interested in Juan Soto.
The Yankees have also inquired about 24-year-old Korean two-way center fielder Jung-Hoo Lee. However, he is being pursued by 20 teams.
Agent Ryan Gleichowski says Anthony Rizzo is doing “great” after slumping and then resting after suffering a concussion after a great start early last year.
The Yankees have been picky about rotation candidates, considering Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Jordan Montgomery but not others.
The Yankees, on the other hand, are interested in Frankie Montas.
Brad Ausmus as the new Yankees bench coach and John Gibbons as the Mets bench coach are both wise decisions.
That position should be filled by someone with managerial experience, not an apprentice.
