At 7-3, the Cleveland Browns are still battling injuries in their quest for a playoff spot. With a number of offensive starters already out for the season, the defense is dealing with uncertainty at a few key positions.
Cleveland listed veteran linebacker Anthony Walker as questionable as the team wrapped up its week of practice ahead of its game against the Denver Broncos. Walker has been dealing with a hamstring injury that he sustained in last week’s win over the Steelers.
Meanwhile, safety Juan Thornhill is questionable after missing the Steelers game due to a calf injury. In Week 10, the former Chief was injured against the Ravens.
Thornhill’s potential absence is made even more significant by the fact that Pro Bowl cornerback Denzel Ward has already been ruled out for Sunday. Ward is currently dealing with a shoulder injury and could be out for several weeks.
Furthermore, the team placed veteran safety Rodney McLeod on injured reserve earlier this week, leaving rookie Ronnie Hickman and second-year man D’Anthony Bell as the only backups to Thornhill and fellow starter Grant Delpit.
In addition to Ward, wide receiver Marquise Goodwin has been ruled out. He is still in the concussion protocol following a head injury in Week 9.
On the plus side, the Browns activated linebacker Jordan Kunaszyk from injured reserve this week, and he’s listed as questionable for the team’s trip to Denver.
In addition, tackle Dawand Jones practiced fully on both Thursday and Friday after suffering a knee injury and playing only a few snaps against Pittsburgh.
The official status of the questionable Browns will be revealed 90 minutes before kickoff on Sunday at 4:05 EST.
