JUST IN: Yankees are on the verge of completing the signing of All-Star Slugger As Offseason Target To Boost Outfield

The New York Yankees need a little help in the lineup.

New York had one of the worst offenses in baseball last season, and the club’s top priority this offseason should be to improve it. The Yankees will also look to improve their rotation, but improving their offense is critical.

The outfield is a position of need for the Yankees. New York could benefit from at least one new outfielder, but most likely from two. According to SNY’s Anthony McCarron, former Cincinnati Reds, Seattle Mariners, and Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Jesse Winker is one player who could make sense in free agency.

Jesse Winker (Olympia HS) hits walk-off homer

“Jesse Winkerwas an All-Star with Cincinnati in 2021 when he hit 24 homers with a .949 OPS,” according to McCarron. “He’s played for the Mariners and the Brewers since, and neither season has gone as well as he would have liked.” Winker, 30, batted.199 in 61 games with Milwaukee last season and missed a lot of time due to injury.

“He’s still a lefty hitter with a lot of potential.” He has a career OPS of.853 against right-handed pitching. He could shine in a big market because he has a flair for attracting attention – remember all his interactions with (New York Mets) fans when he was with the Reds? Perhaps the Bronx fishbowl is exactly what he needs for a career comeback.”

Cincinnati Reds' Jesse Winker (back) back in lineup after two-game absence

Winker was an All-Star for the Reds in 2021 and is a potential comeback candidate. He struggled the last two seasons but was hampered by injuries. If he stays healthy, he could be a good value pick. Last season, he saw action in both left and right field. If he can provide a boost in the lineup as well as defensive versatility with upside, he will be a huge asset to the Yankees.
