DONE DEAL: Detroit Tigers have agreed a two – years deal with Japanese prolific pitcher in contract believed to worth $24 million.

According to sources close to the situation, free agent right-hander Kenta Maeda has agreed to a two-year contract with the Detroit Tigers. The contract is reportedly worth $24 million.

Maeda, who was looking to resurrect his career after undergoing Tommy John surgery, posted a 4.23 ERA in 10413 innings with the Minnesota Twins, striking out 117 and walking 28. Maeda, who will be entering his eighth major league season, will be joined by left-hander Tarik Skubal, who is also returning to baseball after flexor-tendon surgery.

Detroit will be hoping that Maeda can help them improve on their 78-84 record in the American League Central last season. With the reigning American League champions, the Minnesota Twins, expected to reduce their payroll, the Tigers will hope to capitalize on their new signings, including Maeda.
