DONE DEAL: Bulldogs general manager Phil Gould praised the signing of versatile back with Sharks

Connor Tracey, a versatile back, has signed a three-year contract with Canterbury after being released from the final year of his Cronulla contract.

The 27-year-old joins the Bulldogs on an immediate basis, adding depth, speed, and a touch of class to their backline stocks.

Tracey has played every position in the backs in his 66-game NRL career, the last 64 of which he spent with the Sharks after debuting at South Sydney in 2019.

Tracey is highly regarded by Bulldogs general manager Phil Gould, who praised the signing.

“I’ve always admired Connor as a footballer and I’m very excited he has joined our club,” Gould told the club’s website.

“We are really looking forward to welcoming him to the squad.”

Gould is doing everything he can to get the Bulldogs back to the finals for the first time since 2016.

Last season, Canterbury finished 15th under rookie head coach Cameron Ciraldo, an unacceptable result for such a proud club.

Gould has changed the roster by being active in the player market.

Stephen Crichton, Blake Taaffe, Bronson Xerri, Josh Curran, and Jaeman Salmon were added earlier this month, and they were joined by hooker Jake Turpin, forward Poasa Faamausili, and versatile duo Drew Hutchison and Kurt Mann.

The Bulldogs still have salary cap space for more high-profile signings, with Gould recently meeting with Warriors prop Addin Fonua-Blake, who will be available in 2025.
