According to MLB Network insider Steve Phillips, the Atlanta Braves are a viable landing spot for the two-way superstar.

Ohtani’s departure would be disastrous for the Dodgers, as the Braves are their direct rivals at the top of the National League. They are already a fantastic team, and adding someone like Ohtani could make things very difficult for LA.

The main question is whether the Braves can afford to sign Ohtani. They may be well-positioned to win, but they have yet to demonstrate a willingness to spend the money required to secure him.

Ohtani is expected to sign the largest contract in MLB history, with some sources estimating he could earn up to $600 million. Could Atlanta compete with such a large sum of money? Nobody knows for sure.

Hopefully, we’ll know sooner rather than later whether Ohtani will sign. And, hopefully, when all is said and done, he will end up with the Dodgers.
