BREAKING NEWS: Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy drops a heart blowing message to both Fans and teammate ahead of Big Ten Championship Game

What distinguishes Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy isn’t just his arm, accuracy, or decision-making abilities. But what makes McCarthy the complete package, and what will make him a high draft pick whenever he decides to enter the NFL draft, is his ability to use his legs to extend plays or run effectively. McCarthy was using his legs by midseason, and offensive coordinator Sherrone Moore was calling planned runs for McCarthy. McCarthy, on the other hand, was seen limping at times during a game at Penn State in which Moore only had Michigan pass eight times.

Moore didn’t call any designed quarterback runs for McCarthy the following week at Maryland, and the gunslinger appeared to be off target several times on his passes — something appeared to be wrong.

McCarthy, however, assured everyone as he arrived at Ohio State last weekend that he was feeling well and that his treatments were working. And, after the Wolverines defeated Ohio State 30-24 on Saturday, it appeared that McCarthy was back to his old self.
He ran the ball four times for 17 yards, but McCarthy’s throws were accurate and he extended the play several times by escaping the pocket and using his legs.

McCarthy was asked about his lower leg injury again on Monday, during a Zoom conference call prior to the Big Ten Championship game against Iowa. He claims to be nearly healed and to be attacking his treatment on a daily basis. “My lower leg injury is almost perfectly healed,” McCarthy said. “It was a difficult couple of weeks, but the athletic training staff did an outstanding job.” I attack treatment every day, so it’s working.”
Sherrone Moore took over as interim head coach for the final three games after Jim Harbaugh was suspended.

Moore stated that he would not restrain or restrain McCarthy heading into Ohio State week, and Moore told reporters on Monday that he believes McCarthy’s performance against the Buckeyes demonstrated that he is healthier. “I think he’s better,” said Sherrone Moore, Michigan’s offensive coordinator. “I think he demonstrated that when he took off and ran down the sideline, passing those guys.” He’s in a good mood.” McCarthy has now won 24 consecutive regular-season games as Michigan’s starting quarterback. McCarthy has another year of eligibility as a junior, according to coach Jim Harbaugh, who told reporters on Monday that McCarthy has had a fantastic Michigan career.
