BREAKING NEWS: Ohio State Buckeyes Loss key 5-Star DL to Miami Hurricanes in a club record deal

The Ohio State Buckeyes were barely considered in most projections for five-star St. Ignatius (Chicago, IL) defensive lineman Justin Scott this past July, but defensive line coach Larry Johnson worked his magic.

Scott, the No. 3 defensive lineman in the class of 2024, was expected to commit to either Miami or Notre Dame before deciding on Ohio State.

Scott, on the other hand, has shifted his focus from Ohio State to the Miami Hurricanes on Wednesday night.

Scott cited the Hurricanes’ persistence even after he committed to Ohio State, as well as their obvious need for him, as some of the main reasons for his switch.

Ohio State: One important game for defensive line commit Justin Scott

“From the first time they offered me to now they have never changed,” said Scott to On3. “Even after I committed, they continued to recruit me and emphasized the importance of my position there.” I’ve formed so many strong bonds with everyone on the staff there as well.”
Scott also cited a positive relationship with the coaching staff and the variety of ways they intend to use him up front as important factors in his decision.

“I am closest with Coach Schrum, coach Salavea, coach Cristobal, and coach Taylor,” he said. “They plan on using me from the 3 to like 6 so really just playing everywhere on the Dline.”

Even without Scott in the class, the Buckeyes maintained their No. 2 ranking in the On3 recruiting rankings, trailing only Georgia.

As of now, the Buckeyes have four other five-star commits in the class, including defensive lineman Eddrick Houston.
