Deal had no catches in 2023, with Rivaldo Fairweather taking over as the starting tight end in an Auburn passing offense that struggled for the majority of the season.

Deal’s role is much more important off the field. Deal served as a compass as Auburn transitioned into the new Hugh Freeze tenure with so many new faces on the roster as a team captain during two coaching changes.
