JUST IN: Miami Hurricanes head coach Mario Cristobal issues worrying message and special appeal to fans as he lament over top stars entering NCAA transfer portal including Leonard Taylor

He was a four-star defensive lineman out of Jacksonville Oakleaf High, the same school that produced former Canes star and current Jacksonville Jaguars linebacker Shaq Quarterman. However, Hurricanes defensive end Chantz Williams, a 6-4, 255-pound fourth-year junior, announced on Thursday that he is registering with the NCAA transfer portal. Williams’ numbers decreased each season, with the exception of his first redshirt season, when he appeared in two games and had two tackles. Mario Cristobal and Guidry, as well as defensive line coaches Joe Salave’a and Jason Taylor, are expected to be very active in the transfer portal. In 2023, Miami added Deen, Jamil Burroughs, Anthony Campbell, and Thomas Gore at DT. Miami is expected to add up to four DTs through the transfer portal in 2024. A number of DTs have already been targeted.
The transfer portal will not be officially open until December 4th. On Monday, another influx of players is expected. When the portal officially opens, the Miami football program could lose more defensive tackles. Miami’s priority during the 2024 offseason will be to add depth to the defensive line.
