BREAKING NEWS: Top Club Insider confirms new quarterback to bears and more

The Chicago Bears have had another difficult season, while New England Patriots fans aren’t used to thinking about the NFL Draft at this point in the season.

Unfortunately, those two teams could be the first two quarterbacks off the board come April.

Trojans, QB Caleb Williams making history

That’s the scenario portrayed in CBS Sports’ latest 2024 NFL mock draft, which has the Bears selecting USC’s Caleb Williams with the No. 1 pick and the Patriots selecting North Carolina’s Drake Maye with the No. 3 pick.

The Bears must decide whether to continue building around Justin Fields or start over at the game’s most important position, while New England must find a long-term solution after watching their quarterback play fall off a cliff following Tom Brady’s departure.

Caleb Williams, USC Quarterback, will be honored this Saturday at halftime.

Williams and Maye are joined in this first-round projection by two more quarterbacks: LSU’s Jayden Daniels goes to the Las Vegas Raiders at No. 11, and Michigan’s J.J. McCarthy goes to the Minnesota Vikings at No. 20 as Kirk Cousins’ replacement.

With only four passers in this mock, other top prospects like Washington’s Michael Penix Jr. and Oregon’s Bo Nix would have to wait until Day 2 to hear their names called.

Other names in the top five include Ohio State wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. (No. 2, Arizona Cardinals), Notre Dame offensive tackle Joe Alt (No. 4, Bears), and Georgia tight end Brock Bowers (No. 5, Washington Commanders).
