Preller, his Padres counterpart, will re-engage over Soto, the 25-year-old lefty slugger who might wind up the best player traded all offseason.” Soto is one of the best players in baseball and would immediately fill New York’s most pressing need.
The Yankees need to strengthen their middle infield, as well as add an outfielder and a left-handed bat. Soto would assist in resolving all of these issues. The main issue is that New York will have to pay a king’s ransom, and Soto will be a free agent at the end of the 2024 season, but the Yankees must make a significant move. Soto could be an excellent addition.
