Terry McLaurin was able to laugh it off after his Commanders were annihilated by the Dolphins in Week 13.
In Week 13, nothing seemed to go right for the Washington Commanders against the Miami Dolphins. The Commanders’ box score omitted star wide receiver Terry McLaurin.
Washington was defeated 45-15, falling to 4-9 on the season. McLaurin was held without being caught. Despite not receiving the ball, McLaurin kept himself busy against the Dolphins, according to JP Finlay of NBC Sports.
“I ran a lot of cardio today,” McLaurin admitted.
While he was able to make light of the situation, Washington’s inability to even get McLaurin involved in Week 13 demonstrates the offense’s ineffectiveness. Curtis Samuel finished with four catches for 65 yards to lead the team in receiving. However, one of his receptions was 33 yards long.
Running back Antonio Gibson is in the same boat. He finished second on the team in receiving yards with 37, but 32 of those yards came on a single catch. As quarter Sam Howell completed only 12-of-23 passes for 127 yards and an interception, Samuel and Gibson were the only receivers with 30+ yards.
Terry McLaurin is the focal point of Washington’s passing game. He led the team with 60 receptions and 694 yards entering Week 13. The Commanders’ pass offense was also not bad, ranking eighth in the NFL with an average of 247 yards per game.
Still, something went horribly wrong for Terry McLaurin and the Dolphins. Washington is 4-9 and has little hope of making the playoffs. One of the Commanders’ top priorities heading into the offseason should be to ensure McLaurin does not go catchless again.
