Jim Leyland, the former manager of the Detroit Tigers, has been officially informed of his Hall of Fame status.
Former Detroit Tigers manager Jim Leyland, revered for leading the team to World Series appearances in 2006 and 2012, has earned a well-deserved place among baseball’s elite. He will be inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame as a member of the prestigious Class of 2024.
The announcement was made just a few moments ago.
Leyland was inducted into the Hall of Fame Class of 2024, according to social media.
He received 15 of the 16 votes cast, and his induction will take place on July 21, 2024, in Cooperstown, New York.
Leyland had a successful career.
Leyland managed the Pittsburgh Pirates, Florida Marlins, Colorado Rockies, and Detroit Tigers during his career, winning the World Series with the Marlins in 1997. He won a total of 1,769 games and was named Manager of the Year in 1990, 1992, and 2006. He also led the Tigers to three consecutive Central Division titles after doing so as manager of the Pirates.
Tigers fans will remember the magical seasons of 2006 and 2012, both orchestrated by Leyland. Leyland is currently a special assistant in the Tigers front office.

When Leyland is enshrined in Cooperstown for the rest of his life, he will be forever included among baseball’s immortal figures. It’s a well-deserved award for one of the game’s best managers, who is currently ranked 17th in total games managed and 18th in total wins.
