According to Gary Ferman, publisher of CaneSport (On3), it’s “gonna be nip and tuck with both Matt Lee and Kiko Mauigoa on entering the NFL Draft.” This season, they were two of Miami’s top twenty players.
If Lee, Miami’s starting center, and Mauigoa, a star linebacker, choose to stay at The U, they will have one year of eligibility remaining.
According to Pro Football Focus, Lee ranks among the top 15 centers in the country. With a 76.5 rating, he was ranked as the eighth best Miami Hurricanes player in the 2023 season. He only allowed four quarterback hurries and did not record any sacks.
Lee is most likely seeking feedback on a possible draft grade from NFL front offices. Centers are rarely taken very high, but there are exceptions.
Mauigoa finished the year with a PFF grade of 69.5, ranking 17th on the team. He led Miami with 17 tackles for loss and finished second in overall tackles with 70. It’s difficult to find a draft grade for Mauigoa right now, but he’d be a day three pick (4th – 7th round).
These are two of Miami’s most notable transfer portal success stories. Lee transferred from the UCF Knights. Mauigoa transferred to Miami from Washington State. Francis, Mauigoa’s younger brother, is a true freshman offensive tackle.
