Alex Mirabal and Mario Cristobal are two of college football’s best offensive line evaluators. They dipped into the FCS ranks on Monday evening to offer a veteran interior lineman to Samford.
Jabari Brooks has started 31 games at both center and left guard for the Bulldogs in four seasons, totaling over 2500 snaps. His strength is as a pass blocker, with Pro Football Focus giving him grades of 82.4 (2021), 78.3 (2022), and 83.2 (2023) over the last three seasons.
Brooks started the final four games of the season at center after starting the first seven at left guard. He only allowed two sacks on the season, both while playing left guard in the same game, and only eight total pressures. There was only one pressure while handling snaps.
Brooks allowed seven pressures and two sacks as a left guard in 2023.
Brooks played 961 snaps at center in 2022, allowing 19 pressures and six sacks. Brooks was named first-team All-Southern Conference this season and was an offensive pillar on a team that won the SoCon and advanced to the FCS playoffs with a victory over Southeastern Louisiana.
It’s unclear whether Miami will need to replace current center Matt Lee, who is currently weighing his NFL options. However, left guard Javion Cohen will be leaving for the NFL, and the Hurricanes will need to find a replacement.
