The Houston Texans clearly thought former Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud could develop into their next franchise signal-caller after selecting him with the No. 2 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.
However, Stroud has wasted no time in proving to the Texans that they made the right choice in the 2023 draft.
The Houston rookie quarterback is in the midst of an incredible first season in the NFL, having already thrown 20 touchdowns and more than 3,500 yards.
Given Stroud’s play, it’s not surprising that the Texans quarterback currently has the second-most Pro Bowl votes in the league (via Pro Football Network on Twitter).
Stroud currently has 44,095 votes to compete in this season’s Pro Bowl Games, which is more than Christian McCaffrey of the San Francisco 49ers, Tyreek Hill of the Miami Dolphins, and Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs.
Only Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has more Pro Bowl votes than Stroud as the season enters Week 14.
Given this voting information, it’s pretty clear that Stroud will be named to the AFC Pro Bowl roster as a rookie.
If this occurs, he will join Mac Jones, Dak Prescott, and Jameis Winston as the only quarterbacks since 2013 to be named to a Pro Bowl roster in their rookie seasons.
This week, Stroud will look to help the Texans keep their playoff hopes alive when they travel to face an underwhelming New York Jets team.
