Texans offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik discussed how devastating Tank Dell’s injury was for the team while also looking ahead.
The Houston Texans (7-5) will have a bittersweet Sunday afternoon of football in Week 14. They enter their game against the New York Jets as an AFC playoff team, but they do so knowing that rookie wide receiver Tank Dell is out for the season.
That heartbreaking news came after the former Houston Cougars star suffered a leg injury in the Texans’ big win over the Denver Broncos last week. First-year offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik expressed his disappointment that Dell would have to be placed on Injured Reserve in the midst of a stellar season.
“I think everyone on the team will kind of have the same reaction to that one,” he told SportsRadio610, according to Pro Football Talk’s Josh Alper. “It’s heartbreaking. It stings. It almost brought a tear to my eye — no, it did bring a tear to my eye. That one really hurts.”
In 11 games, the third-round pick had 47 receptions for 709 yards and seven touchdowns. His production will be difficult to replace, but fans should remain optimistic about the Texans’ chances in the future. After all, they have another rookie sensation who has shown early in his NFL career that he is capable of improvising and overcoming adversity.
