OFFICIAL: Braves announced today the signing of former LHP to one-year contract

The Atlanta Braves announced today that they have signed LHP Angel Perdomo to a non-guaranteed contract for 2024, after he was non-tendered just weeks ago.
In early November, Atlanta claimed Perdomo off waivers from the Pittsburgh Pirates. Only a few weeks later, the Braves passed on him, but he’s now back in the organization as a long-term investment. He won’t be available in 2024 after undergoing Tommy John surgery on October 6th, but Atlanta should retain his contractual rights for 2025-2028 if he spends the entire season on the 60-day injured list.

Perdomo was 3-2 with a 3.72 ERA in 30 appearances for the Pirates in 2023, when he was healthy. Perdomo had an even better FIP (3.01) than his ERA, striking out 44 batters in 29 innings, and fits Atlanta’s recent history of acquiring players who should be able to improve their stats in better environments.

Atlanta also passed recently acquired Evan White through waivers and assigned him to AAA Gwinnett. He owed $17 million on the contract he signed with the Seattle Mariners and was unlikely to be claimed by another team.

He could theoretically choose free agency instead, as he has more than three years of service time, but he would forfeit the contract’s remaining guaranteed money (as that requires five years of service time). The move takes him off the 40-man roster.
