The Houston Texans have been one of the most entertaining and surprising stories of the 2023 NFL season, appearing to be far ahead of schedule in their ostensible rebuild.
The Texans defeated the Denver Broncos in Week 13 and now hold the final Wild Card spot heading into Week 14.
C.J. Stroud has been a revelation for Houston, not only as the best rookie, but also as one of the league’s best quarterbacks.
Stroud has a great pocket presence and an accurate arm, which he uses to find open receivers all over the field.
Stroud was also fortunate to have a fantastic running partner in Tank Dell, who has been equally impressive in his rookie season.
However, Dell suffered a fractured fibula against the Broncos and will miss the rest of the season, according to NFL, though Stroud stated that the two will remain a great pair for the foreseeable future.
“7 and 3 will be a great duo for the next couple years,” Mr. Stroud said.
Stroud and Dell quickly formed a strong bond on the field, and the two catapulted the Texans’ offense almost from the start.
Dell may not have the physical characteristics of a top receiver, but he has a knack for getting open and has sure hands.
The wideout set a franchise record for receiving touchdowns as a rookie and would’ve broken it again if he hadn’t been injured.
Stroud will undoubtedly miss Dell on the field, but he has demonstrated that he can make plays with his back to the wall.
