JUST IN: NBA insider has disclose the Miami Heat plans for two blockbuster potential trade targets

The Miami Heat were unable to sign Damian Lillard this summer. Pat Riley worked tirelessly all summer to lure the All-Star guard away from the Portland Trail Blazers. However, Lillard was traded to the Milwaukee Bucks. As a result, the Heat are expected to be active in the trade market in order to improve their roster.

According to Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated, who spoke on a recent episode of “The Crossover” podcast, the Heat may be interested in Pascal Siakam or OG Anunoby.

“I would expect (the Miami Heat) to be aggressive,” Mannix said in a press conference. “Perhaps that means a Pascal Siakam.” Perhaps an OG Anunoby is in the works. That’s someone I don’t think they’d hesitate to sign because if you’re Miami, you can resign those guys.”

Siakam’s current contract is coming to an end. This summer, he will be an unrestricted free agent. Anunoby’s contract includes a player option for next season, which he is widely expected to decline. Toronto is unlikely to keep both players given the possibility of losing them for nothing at the end of the current season.

As a result, it’s understandable that teams are keeping an eye on what’s going on with the Raptors. A team like Miami could benefit from the addition of an athletic forward with legitimate size, length, and skill to their starting lineup. Unlike a potential trade for Lillard, Miami would not have to sell their entire roster to get a deal done.

However, just because Anunoby and Siakam make sense on paper doesn’t mean they’ll be Miami’s top picks. Riley could turn his attention to the current Chicago Bulls situation and try to lure one of DeMar DeRozan, Zach LaVine, or Alex Caruso away from the struggling Eastern Conference team.

Still, the case for Siakam or Anunoby collaborating with Bam Adebayo and Jimmy Butler is too compelling to ignore, which is why we’ll likely hear more rumors about a possible collaboration in the coming months. Whatever Miami decides, you can be confident that they have done their homework. The Heat have built a reputation for making smart moves and consistently being in contention when the playoffs arrive. After all, this is the same team that battled its way through the play-in tournament to the NBA Finals last season. Miami knows how to win on the court as well as in the front office.
