The Chicago Bears signed linebacker DeMarquis Gates to the active roster on Saturday. He replaces defensive end Yannick Ngakoue, who was placed on injured reserve earlier this week by the Bears.
Gates has spent the majority of the season on the practice squad, but he has appeared in three games for the Bears this season, with all 49 of his snaps coming on special teams, and he has one tackle and a fumble recovery.
The Bears (5-8) will face the Cleveland Browns (8-5) at noon (CT) on Sunday, with each team’s inactive list due 90 minutes before kickoff.
