HUGE INCOMING: Tigers insider reveals Huge Addition For The Detroit Tigers as Club Chief Scott Harris Prepares a blockbuster trade

The Detroit Tigers are keeping an eye on how the Kansas City Royals make move after move in the AL Central and don’t want to fall behind.

Originally thought to be among the league’s worst teams, both the Royals and Tigers are finally signing and spending like they want to compete.

The Tigers announced a potentially solid signing to bolster their rotation this week: Jack Flaherty.

MLB Network’s Jon Morosi broke down what the move means for Detroit.
In 2024, the Tigers believe they can compete in the American League Central. We know they have some young, talented starters, and by bringing in Flaherty and (Kenta) Maeda, I believe they are adding some insurance,” Morosi said.

MLB Network then displayed a chart outlining the Tigers’ rotation options in 2024.

They have Casey Mize, Matt Manning, Tarik Skubal, Reece Olson, Joey Wentz, and Alex Faedo as young starters, as well as veteran Maeda and Flaherty, who is more of a reclamation project.

Flaherty’s career ERA is a very solid 3.75 after some really strong seasons to start his career in the late-2010s.
He used to be the St. Louis Cardinals’ ace pitcher.

However, shoulder issues have plagued him in recent seasons, limiting his performance.
Flaherty pitched 144.1 innings for the Cardinals and the Baltimore Orioles, compiling a 4.99 ERA and a 1.58 WHIP.

That’s not ideal, but he’s only 28 years old.

If Flaherty is fully healthy, he could return with a sub-4.00 ERA and eat innings for the Tigers.

Only he knows with certainty how healthy his right arm is.

This will determine whether or not the one-year, $14 million agreement succeeds.
