DONE DEAL: Miami Hurricanes have completed the signing of Program best hot talent a 4-star RB from Ohio State

On Monday night, Miami crossed the finish line with one of its top targets for running backs when four-star Jordan Lyle of Fort Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas, who had committed to Ohio State, switched to Miami.

In order to maintain the Broward County native after a long-standing commitment to the Buckeyes, Miami needed to host the 6-foot-1, 180-pound player on an official visit over the weekend. Lyle also made three home games at Hard Rock Stadium for Miami this past season. Additionally, Cristobal and his staff managed to separate an Ohio State quarterback named Ryan Day from a South Florida tailback for the second consecutive cycle.

Mark Fletcher made the decision to stay at home instead of play collegiate ball in the previous cycle.

Lyle, who played for STA on three teams that won state championships in a row, concluded his high school career with 2616 running yards, 35 touchdowns, and an average of more than 10 yards per carry. Lyle ran for 117 yards and a touchdown in the state championship game, which they won 31-28 over Homestead about ten days earlier.

Lyle ran for a career-high 1376 yards (10.6 yards per carry) and 21 touchdowns in 15 games during his senior year.

Based on the industry-generated 247Sports Composite, Lyle is ranked No. 11 running back and No. 145 overall in the nation.

Miami has assembled a superb group of running backs in the Class of 2024 with Lyle on board. Kevin Riley, a running back for Tuscaloosa County Top247 in Northport, Alabama, is also a member of the team, as the Hurricanes battle late in the cycle to stave off the hometown Crimson Tide. Chris Wheatley-Humphrey, a tailback from Hollywood, Florida’s South Broward, has also been among South Florida’s most prolific backs in recent seasons.

With 29 prospects having committed thus far this cycle, the Hurricanes have the sixth-best recruiting class in the nation. After the final official visit weekend, Miami would hope to build on this favorable momentum in order to flip a few key targets, including Miami Central Top247 defensive lineman Armondo Blount from Florida State, Largo (Fla.)

Florida linebacker Adarius Hayes and Wisconsin defensive back Xavier Lucas of Plantation American Heritage are two examples of the players.
