JUST IN: Jets Head coach Robert Saleh Reveal Full QB Plan for Week 16 Game Against Washington Commanders Admin Zach Wilson’s Injury

The New York Jets were chastised for their bizarre handling of Zach Wilson’s injury during the weekend game against the Miami Dolphins.

When head coach Robert Saleh spoke to the media on Monday, December 18, he was asked to clarify a few points.

“Yeah, I’m not sure about the communication. “I just know that they wanted to review a possible head injury and he [Wilson] was put into the protocol and that’s it,” Saleh explained.

Saleh also confirmed that if Wilson passes the NFL’s concussion protocol, he will continue to be the team’s starting quarterback.

When Wilson reclaimed the starting job ahead of the Houston Texans game, Saleh stated that, barring injury, he would do so for the rest of the season.

Dianna Russini of The Athletic, an NFL Insider, previously explained the very thorough return to concussion protocol and how it works on Twitter.

Wilson will make his 12th start for the Jets this season and his 34th overall in his three-year career.

If he is unable to travel, Saleh has confirmed that veteran quarterback Trevor Siemian will take over the offense.

Siemian has yet to start a game for the Jets this season, but he has appeared in two others.

If Wilson is unable to play, Brett Rypien will continue to serve as the backup quarterback. If Rypien is unable to play in this game, he will be promoted to backup quarterback behind Siemian for Sunday’s game against the Commanders.

Saleh Refuses to Address Aaron Rodgers Rumors

Aaron Rodgers’ return date has long been speculated to be this week’s game against Washington.

Although Saleh refused to address that notion during a press conference or a radio interview on “The Michael Kay Show.”

“I’m afraid I don’t have anything for you on that one right now.” “As far as I’m concerned, he’s still in rehab,” Saleh said.

The Jets must decide whether or not to activate Rodgers by Wednesday, December 20. If they do, he will be added to the 53-man roster and will be able to continue practicing. If they do not activate him, Rodgers will be officially ruled out for the remainder of the 2023 season.

The fact that he has been activated does not guarantee that he will play again this season. It is entirely possible that the team will activate him solely for the purpose of continuing reps in practice.

Rodgers has stated repeatedly that if the Jets are eliminated from playoff contention, it does not appear that he should return. That is exactly what happened over the weekend, with the Jets losing to the Dolphins and the Houston Texans and Cleveland Browns both winning.

A-Rod wants to be the fastest player to ever return from a torn Achilles, but the team must be cautious because he has already committed to returning in 2024.
