Remarkably, one of the busiest teams during the offseason has been the Detroit Tigers.
With a 78-84 record that was both shockingly decent and maybe promising, they finished second in the AL Central.
They set out to add a few pieces since they believe they are about to get into a fight.
They signed three arms: reliever Andrew Chafin, pitchers Kenta Maeda and Jack Flaherty, and outfielder and on-base dynamo Mark Canha.
Given that they are all veterans, the Tigers have made it clear that they intend to compete right away, which is encouraging for the league.
Even better, they still desire to participate in the trade and free agent markets.
“After everything we’ve done, we’re in a position where we can seize opportunities. “The #Tigers are still looking for more arms after adding Kenta Maeda, Andrew Chafin, and (reportedly) Jack Flaherty,” MLB Network tweeted, citing general manager Jeff Greenberg.
Greenberg has collaborated with Scott Harris, president of baseball operations, since assuming the role of general manager a few months ago.
They have been working together to gradually assemble a Tigers team that should be competitive in 2024.
The team is prepared to rely on a youthful core to carry them as far as they can now that Eduardo Rodriguez and Miguel Cabrera’s salaries are off the books.

Along with pitchers Casey Mize, Matt Manning, Tarik Skubal, Reese Olson, Alex Faedo, and Joey Wentz, other highly skilled players are Riley Greene, Spencer Torkelson, and Kerry Carpenter.
The Tigers could do some exciting things the next season if most of them perform as well as they did the previous year and some get better.
