28 percent. After the flip of former Florida four-star defensive lineman Kendall Jackson, Miami’s 2024 class is heavily focused on the defensive line.
“The coaching staff is fantastic. This summer, Jackson told Rivals, “I have a great relationship with Coach (Mario) Cristobal.”
We discuss it on a daily basis. He gives the family an update, and we discuss topics other than football. I love that there won’t be 200 students in the class, so I can give academic attention more focused attention. As a private school, more like 35 at most.”
Before withdrawing last week, the 6’4″, 260-pound defensive chess piece had been committed to the Gators for little under five months. Miami appeared to be in the running for Jackson, who made an official visit to Coral Gables this summer.
Jackson declared, “I adore the program and the school.” “I get along well with the employees. I get along well with Coach Joe Salave’a and Coach [Jason] Taylor. These two are excellent coaches who understand what it takes to advance.”
After posting a double-digit sack season in 2022, Jackson, a native of Florida and a player in the Gators’ backyard, has risen up the rankings this season, securing his spot as a four-star prospect and among the top 35 players at his position with 24 tackles for loss and 14 sacks in his senior year.
Miami nevertheless made Jackson feel like a need in this 2024 class despite the fact that a long list of defensive linemen had committed.
They are emphasizing to me how important I am and how well I would fit in their defense. Coach Taylor and I have been communicating a lot. He suggested he could get me into the Hall of Fame when I told him that was my dream.”
The Gainesville Buchholz product was compelled by the Gators’ disappointing season to reevaluate his recruiting, which made Miami and Mississippi State more likely to accept his commitment.
Ultimately, Jackson recognized Miami’s developmental potential. “The development I would get from coach Taylor and the progress I see in the program as a whole put Miami over the top for me.”
Miami returns to the top five programs in the country with seven commitments from four- or five-star defensive lines.
