DONE DEAL: Texans Sign New ‘Emergency’ QB as C.J. Concussion Issues continue to Lingers

homeIn Nashville, the Houston Texans managed to win Week 15 and maintain their playoff aspirations by defeating the Tennessee Titans 19-16. They were without a number of important players, including quarterback C.J. Stroud, who was sidelined due to a concussion. The Houston supporters were informed on Tuesday that Stroud was still experiencing symptoms and had not completed the NFL’s concussion protocol. As a result, the Texans signed veteran quarterback Tim Boyle to the practice squad in order to increase their depth.

Texans to start veteran QB Case Keenum against Titans on Sunday

The only reason for the move is to add more depth to the quarterback room in the rear. Because of his expertise in big games, third-string quarterback Case Keenum was selected to start against Tennessee. With 23 of 36 throws for 229 yards, one touchdown, and one interception, he performed well enough to win.

But a body was required with Keenum starting and Stroud sidelined. Boyle is a good fit. He accompanied Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers to the New York Jets, where he gained experience as a backup quarterback. It wasn’t pretty when he got to play this season. On 77 throws, he only managed 360 yards passing with a score and four interceptions. In every game he played in this season, the Jets lost.

What Happened to C.J. Stroud? Texans QB Expected To Miss Some NFL Action

It seems unlikely that he will play on Sunday when the Houston (8-6) Browns (9-5) visit Cleveland. Deshaun Watson, Cleveland’s starting quarterback, will also be sidelined. The team has already shifted to veteran quarterback Joe Flacco as a backup after Dorian Thompson-Robinson and P.J. Walker proved to be ineffective in leading the offense.
