What a difference a half-season makes in Chicago!
After a disastrous first four weeks, many players in their final year of contract wanted out of the Bears the following season.
Cornerback Jaylon Johnson was one of those players, and he previously stated that he was not interested in discussing a contract extension.
Chicago lost their first four games before defeating the Commanders 40-20.
“I mean, it’s all I know, honestly,” former Utah player Johnson told NBCSportsChicago.com’s Josh Schrock.
“I couldn’t imagine myself anywhere else.” It’s simple to say, oh, you want something out of somewhere until you get it and realize, ‘Ah, this may not be quite what I want.’ But I would say that I want to stay here and avoid making that transition right now.
After trading with Carolina, the Bears will also have the first overall pick, leaving the Panthers in last place with three weeks to go.
“I, too, believe we’re constructing something special, particularly with the guys in the locker room.” I don’t think I’ll be able to get it anywhere else. I’d like to stay and continue to build and improve this, and shit, I’d like to win some games, make the playoffs, and make a push with the Chicago name, too.”
The Bears should pick up their sixth win when they face the Cardinals, who are 3-11.
The Bears will have a losing season, but with a couple of wins to finish the season, they will be well prepared for the next season.
