BREAKING NEWS: Louisville signs 14 high talented school prospects during early signing period In just a little over two weeks

High school football recruiting will never die.

However, because of the transfer portal, Louisville coach Jeff Brohm and his staff had another smaller class of high school prospects this recruiting cycle.

In just over two weeks, U of L has received 16 commitments from transfer portal prospects. The Cardinals signed 14 high school prospects on Wednesday, the first day of the early signing period for college football teams.

Brohm says his staff is never done recruiting, but it doesn’t appear that Louisville will sign any more high school prospects at this time.

“We’re excited to announce 14 players from high schools who will be joining us,” Brohm said at the class announcement press conference. “We’re excited about all of them because they’ve all been loyal to us along the way, they’re proud to be Cardinals, and they’re excited about the future.”

“They’re excited about being here, and we are definitely excited about adding them to the mix.”

Brohm stated that because the portal allows his staff to recruit older players, high school recruiting has changed slightly.

“From the high school ranks, we want to recruit the best athlete that we can at all of the positions that we think fit,” Brohm said in a statement. “We definitely want to recruit the best from this state and the surrounding areas and then make our way south from there.”

Several times during the season, Brohm stated that the recruiting class would be small.

And while it is smaller, it still has some firepower within the class.

Wide receiver JoJo Stone, running back Duke Watson, and tight end Dylan Mesman were all signed as four-star prospects by Louisville.

The Cardinals added nine offensive players and five defensive players to their roster. The states of Florida and Georgia led the way with four players each, while Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, Mississippi, and Texas each have one player.

U of L had three offensive linemen, two defensive linemen, two wide receivers, two running backs, two secondary players, one quarterback, one linebacker, and one tight end on their roster.

“We like the guys that we signed and think they can come in and help us win games,” Brohm said in a statement. “They have played a lot of football, come from good backgrounds, and are guys that are going to be good student-athletes and come in hard.”

Unlike last year’s recruiting cycle, every player Louisville is recruiting appears to have made a decision either before or on signing day. Prospects may emerge, but the staff appears to be finished with the Class of 2024.
