Miami signed the No. 7 class in the 2023 cycle and will sign another top ten class in 2024, marking the first time in the 247Sports era that Miami has signed consecutive top ten classes.
This 2024 class will be the best Miami has signed since the 2011 cycle, according to 247Sports.
The best predictor of future on-field success at the major college football level is consistently stacking top ten classes at the high school level. During his two full seasons in Miami, Cristobal has significantly improved the roster’s talent.
3-star Judd Anderson has signed.
The grade is B-.
Overview: At nearly 6-feet-7 and 215 pounds, Anderson is a developmental quarterback with a lot of intriguing traits to work on in college. Anderson graduated from Warner Robins after throwing for 2,917 yards, 30 touchdowns, and seven interceptions while completing 73.6 percent of his passes and rushing for 135 yards and three touchdowns. Anderson is the type of player that a program will keep for a few years, and the results could be spectacular.
Jordan Lyle (4-star) and Chris Wheatley-Humphrey (3-star) have signed.
B grade
Overview: Prior to the early signing period, the Hurricanes flipped Lyle, a St. Thomas Aquinas product, from Ohio State. Lyle, a Top 150 recruit, was the best South Florida running back in the 2024 recruiting class. Lyle is a smooth running back with a frame that will allow him to weigh more than 200 pounds in college. Wheatley-Humphrey is another South Florida native who adds speed to the backfield. Wheatley-Humphrey ran for 2,076 yards and 16 touchdowns as a senior, averaging 13.1 yards per carry. Miami has always wanted to keep the best local running backs at home, and that effort was a success in the 2024 cycle.
Signees include four-star Ny Carr, four-star JoJo Trader, and four-star Chance Robinson.
A is the grade.
On paper, this wide receiver class is the best Miami has signed since the 2011 cycle, according to 247Sports. Carr is from Colquitt County in southern Georgia, and he committed to the Hurricanes after decommitting from Georgia. Carr is a Top 50 player in the country who can play both the slot and the outside. Trader made a summer commitment to the Hurricanes, and the Top 100 prospect represents an explosive, playmaking receiver to develop on the outside. Robinson, a St. Thomas Aquinas graduate, is a big-bodied, contested catch winner. This is a unique group.
Signees include 4-star Elija Lofton.
B+ grade
Overview: Lofton is a unique prospect at 6-foot-2 and 220 pounds who can stress a defense with his ability to make plays in the red zone while exploiting the flats and short areas. Lofton is one of the country’s most impressive weight-room prospects, and his explosiveness makes him an important piece of Miami’s 2024 class. Texas was making a strong late-game push.
4-star JUCO Markel Bell, 3-star Deryc Plazz, 3-star OL Juan Minaya, and 3-star OL Nino Francavilla have all signed.
B grade
Overview: Miami’s offensive line continues to be stacked with talent. At 6-feet-9 and 340 pounds, Bell will be one of the biggest men in college football at the FBS level. Bell is the top JUCO offensive tackle prospect and projects as a player who could compete for an immediate role. Plazz is an offensive lineman who can play both guard and tackle. Minaya, at 6-foot-3 and 335 pounds, is a massive offensive line prospect in his own right. Francavilla’s evaluation by the UM coaching staff is interesting because he was flipped from Harvard to be Miami’s future center.
Signees include four-star Marquise Lightfoot, four-star Elias Rudolph, four-star Booker Pickett, and three-star defensive end Cole McConathy.
The grade is A-.
Overview: The Hurricanes wanted to sign the best defensive line class in the country in the 2024 cycle, and their recruiting success at the edge rusher position puts them in a position to do so. Lightfoot is a Chicago-area Top 100 prospect. Lightfoot, who stands 6-feet-5 and weighs 230 pounds, is a prospect with a strong combination of size, athleticism, and speed. Pickett was a pass-rushing terror in high school and is a UM legacy. Rudolph provides Miami with a long pass rusher who can develop and gain weight. McConathy received a favorable evaluation from the UM staff, earning a flip from Louisville. During his time at Alabama, McConathy racked up a lot of tackles for loss and sacks.
This group is long, twitchy, and violent in nature.
5-star Justin Scott, 5-star Armondo Blount, 4-star Artavius Jones, and 3-star DL Daylen Russell have all signed.
A is the grade.
Overview: The Hurricanes wanted to bring in one of the best defensive line classes in the country, and this group delivers. Scott was a transfer from Ohio State, and he provides the Hurricanes with a massive frame with athleticism to develop. On signing day, UM also acquired Blount from Florida State, giving the Hurricanes the best defensive tackle prospect in South Florida. Miami went into FSU territory to sign big-bodied Jones, and Russell is a local defensive tackle prospect.
Quality defensive tackles are the most difficult position to secure on the defensive side of the ball. Miami landed several high-profile defensive tackles in this class. The mission was completed.
Signees include four-star Adarius Hayes and three-star Cameron Pruitt.
B+ grade
Overview: Miami flipped Hayes from Florida on signing day, and at 6-feet-4 and 210 pounds, he represents a big-bodied middle linebacker to develop. Hayes is ranked No. 73 overall in the country by the industry-generated 247Sports Composite. According to the 247Sports Composite, Pruitt is a three-star player. Pruitt is a tall, athletic WILL linebacker for the UM coaching staff to groom.
