JUST IN: Miami head coach Cristobal earns elite signing day haul as Canes officially announced the signing of Five star defensive lineman

The worries regarding Florida State’s increasing incapacity to sign top-tier defensive lineman from high schools have intensified as of late. Mike Norvell and his staff successfully recruited Armondo Blount away from the Miami Hurricanes. It turned out to be short-lived, though, as Blount and his entourage kept in touch with Miami and have since determined that Coral Gables will be their future home. Blount made his intentions clear this past weekend when he decided to visit Miami rather than FSU.

It was always a recruiting that Miami should have won, and it would have required a tremendous effort on the part of FSU to persuade Blount to stay, but it still represents a significant setback for the Seminoles’ hopes for 2023 (as well as an otherwise outstanding class).

Blount, a defensive lineman for Miami Central High School, stands 6 feet 4 inches and weighs 250 pounds. After reclassifying from 2025, he is widely regarded as a five-star recruit for the class of 2024.

Blount is highly sought after by almost all major programs, and with good cause. He is the ideal defensive lineman for teams who aim to win championships and has the potential to be a very disruptive player at the next level. He possesses exceptional athleticism, bend, flexibility, power, and quickness.

Since the eighth grade, he has been a varsity football player. He recorded 13 sacks during his freshman year at Fort Lauderdale’s Dillard High School. In 11 games during his sophomore campaign, he recorded 30 TFLs and 16 sacks. Before this season, he moved to Miami Central, where he kept up his dominance.
