SAD NEWS: Texans quarterback remains in the concussion protocol likely to miss game vs. Brown

C.J. Stroud is still in the concussion protocol ten days after being injured, according to Houston Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans.

While Ryans said “no” when asked if the injury would end Stroud’s season, the Texans quarterback did not practice on Wednesday and is expected to miss his second straight game this weekend.

“Each concussion is different,” Ryans told ESPN. “Everyone takes a different amount of time to heal. He’s simply going through the motions like everyone else. The most important thing is to keep C.J. healthy.”

Stroud was injured in Week 14’s 30-6 loss to the New York Jets. He did not play in the team’s 19-16 overtime victory over the Tennessee Titans on Sunday and is expected to miss this week’s game against the Cleveland Browns.

The quarterback’s absence comes at a critical time for the Texans, who are currently one game out of the final AFC playoff spot. Houston is still in contention for the AFC South title, sitting in a three-way tie with the Indianapolis Colts and Jacksonville Jaguars at 8-6.

Case Keenum started and finished Sunday with 229 yards, one touchdown, and one interception on 23-of-36 passing in Stroud’s absence.
