ESPN NEWS: ESPN insider Kiley McDaniel confirm Former Dodgers Reliever has agreed to a blockbuster deal with the Detroit Tigers on a one-year deal.

Shelby Miller, a free agent relief pitcher for the Los Angeles Dodgers, will not return for the 2024 season. He has agreed to a one-year contract with the Detroit Tigers. ESPN’s Kiley McDaniel was the first to report the news.

Miller was one of the Dodgers’ better relievers last season, with an ERA of 1.71 in 36 games. He struck out 42 batters in 42 innings of work and had a 0.90 WHIP.

Throughout the season, the veteran reliever dealt with a number of injuries, the most serious of which was a neck problem. It forced him to miss a significant amount of time during the season, but he was able to return for the stretch run.

Miller demonstrated that he can still be a productive pitcher in the major leagues, and he will look to repeat his success next season. Last season, he struck out 25.8% of batters and was typically very good at keeping the ball on the ground.

He added a new splitter to his pitching repertoire, which appeared to be very effective against opposing batters. Miller’s career was resurrected after the Dodgers used their pitching magic on him.

The Tigers have been very active this offseason in bolstering their pitching staff, and Miller adds another veteran presence to the mix.

Miller’s signing came just hours after the Dodgers and Yoshinobu Yamamoto agreed to terms. Yamamoto will wear the No. 18 jersey that Miller wore in Los Angeles last season.
