GOOD NEWS: Top Tigers insider important updates on pitcher new Tigers deal worth $14 million

The Detroit Tigers have been a bad team over the last few years.

But they appear to be ready to turn the corner and get back into contention.

The Tigers finished second in the AL Central last season with a 78-84 record.

They have a young team full of players who are still finding their way as MLB players.

Nonetheless, it appears that the Tigers want to bring in some veterans to help balance out their young core.

The Tigers have officially agreed to a one-year contract with pitcher Jack Flaherty, according to Bob Nightengale.

The contract is worth $14 million, with the possibility of increasing to $15 million if Flaherty makes 30 starts.

Flaherty is coming off a season in which he struggled for two teams in 2023.

He began the season with the St. Louis Cardinals, where he pitched to a 4.43 ERA in 20 starts.

He was then traded to the Baltimore Orioles, where he pitched in nine games with a 6.75 ERA.

He now hopes to get a fresh start with the Tigers and regain his earlier career form.

During his early years with the Cardinals, Flaherty was regarded as a top pitcher in baseball.

However, Flaherty was unable to reach his full potential due to injuries and other issues.

Last season, the Tigers’ starting rotation struggled to maintain consistency.

Signing Flaherty gives them hope that things will improve.

The AL Central is up for grabs in 2024, so don’t be surprised if the Tigers challenge for the title.
