Tyler Herro is spreading holiday cheer in a big way, with the Miami Heat star reportedly giving out a lot of gifts to a lot of kids.
In addition to gift cards, the 23-year-old allegedly distributed shoes, clothing, and autographed jerseys.
Herro, who is in his fifth NBA season, recently returned from a lengthy absence caused by an ankle injury. After not playing since November 8, he has scored 53 points in two games.
He returned to the team on Monday, along with Bam Adebayo, who had been out with a hip injury. The Heat fell to the Minnesota Timberwolves in that game, but bounced back to beat the Orlando Magic on Wednesday.
They take a 16-12 record into a home game against the Atlanta Hawks on Friday before hosting the Philadelphia 76ers on Christmas night.
Herro has led the Heat in scoring in all four games since his return. In early November, he was injured in the first quarter against the Memphis Grizzlies and missed 18 games due to a sprained right ankle.
After being the subject of trade rumors throughout the offseason, the University of Kentucky product has clearly remained invested in the Heat. He was not involved in any trades for Damian Lillard, Jrue Holiday, or Bradley Beal, and he is now Miami’s leading scorer, averaging 23.6 points per game in 10 games.
Adebayo, who has missed seven games due to an injury, is second on the team with 22.0 points per game, while Jimmy Butler is third with 21.5 points per game.
Herro’s return comes at an ideal time for the Heat, who have been plagued by injuries throughout the season. Butler, in fact, is expected to miss his second consecutive game and sixth of the season against the Hawks on Friday due to a left calf strain.
Miami has remained a strong contender in the Eastern Conference playoff race, and the Heat are the No. 7 seed entering Thursday’s game.
With Herro spreading some holiday cheer, the Heat should enter the holiday season in a good mood and poised for even more success as the 2023-24 NBA season progresses.
