DONE DEAL: Texas have officially sign former Colorado Buffaloes, a Four-Star talented player.

The Early Signing Period is coming to an end, but the Texas Longhorns aren’t done adding to their 2024 class. Texas added another commit to their already stacked class late Friday night, securing four-star Calabasas (CA) athlete Aaron Butler. Butler also signed his national letter of intent with the Horns on Friday night, officially joining the Horns’ top-five 2024 recruiting class.

Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes, as well as the USC Trojans, were both interested in the 5-11, 165-pound athlete.

Butler chose the Longhorns over Arizona and the Longhorns’ College Football Playoff semi-final opponent, the Washington Huskies. Butler is regarded as having two-way ability, and that appeared to be the plan for him at Colorado. According to the On3 Industry Ranking, he is the 179th best player in the country, the 7th best athlete in the country, and the 16th best player in California.

With Butler’s acquisition, the Horns are now ranked third in the On3 national team rankings and second in the Rivals.com rankings. According to 247Sports, Texas is also ranked third.

Following an injury, the Calabasas product chose not to finish his high school season and instead focused on preparing to enter early in September. Butler recorded 28 catches for 586 yards and five touchdowns in four games before opting out, according to Max Preps.

Butler had 38 catches for 830 yards and 13 touchdowns in 11 games in 2022. Because of older players leaving and the late flip of four-star Athlete Aeryn Hampton, the Longhorns have a need at both wide receiver and in the secondary next season. Butler may come in and potentially fill either need. Having said that, he should start on offense for Steve Sarkisian.
