If Las Vegas Raiders interim coach Antonio Pierce didn’t have team owner Mark Davis’ attention before the team’s Week 16 meeting against the Kansas City Chiefs, he certainly does now after leading the organization to a 20-14 victory against the current Super Bowl champs on Monday. Pierce moved to 4-3 in his brief stay with the team with the victory. Following Sunday’s victory, a number of Pierce’s former colleagues and players called for him to be considered for the permanent head coaching role. But, with two weeks left in the season, Pierce is determined to finish the season with two more victories. When asked how he hopes to show to Davis that he is the proper guy to be the Raiders’ full-time coach, Pierce responded the proof has already been delivered on the field.
“My resume is lying on the grass,” Pierce explained. “I can put together a dazzling presentation… I can post my resume. But the nicest thing that occurred to me was a chance.”Hopefully, Mark Davis sees improvement and growth within our team, the Raiders’ desired style of play, and a fans that is behind us.” “My resume is on the grass…hopefully Mark Davis sees improvement & growth in our team, he sees the style of play he wants from the Raiders.” Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce discusses his chances of staying in charge beyond the end of the season.
Pierce guided the Raiders to their first victory over the Chiefs since 2020. Pierce’s seven-game winning streak includes four victories against the Kansas City Chiefs and two against the Los Angeles Chargers. According to NFL.com, the Raiders are now outside of the AFC playoff picture, with a 12% probability of making the postseason. The Raiders (7-8) will play the Colts (8-7) on the road in Week 17 at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday.
