FLOWERY BRANCH, Georgia — Almost every Falcons player took part in Wednesday’s practice as Atlanta prepares for Sunday’s game against the Chicago Bears, but several were limited, according to the organization.
On the first practice day, only veterans Calais Campbell and Cordarrelle Patterson were absent due to a usual rest day.
Quarterback Taylor Heinicke (ankle) was one of seven players classified on the team’s participation report as limited. Limited players were defensive lineman David Onyemata (ankle), outside linebacker Lorenzo Carter (neck), and offensive linemen Jake Matthews (knee), Drew Dalman (ankle), Chris Lindstrom (ankle), and Kaleb McGary (knee).
Matthews left the game in the fourth quarter of the Colts’ Week 16 triumph. He did not return, but head coach Arthur Smith stated that he had been cleared to do so. Lindstrom and Carter both left the game to be assessed for concussions, but both returned.
The offensive linemen have been dealing with injuries over the past few weeks. McGary has missed Atlanta’s last three games, while Matthews, Dalman, and Lindstrom have all returned to the lineup after missing the prior game. Defensive lineman David Onyemata, who had been sidelined for the previous two games before returning against the Colts, also played.
