BREAKING NEWS: Club insider reveal Tennessee QB skip the Tennessee Volunteers bowl game this Monday against the Iowa Hawkeye, NFL Draft decisions

Joe Milton III is focused on the future, which means he will miss the Tennessee Volunteers’ bowl game against the Iowa Hawkeyes on Monday.

Tennessee, rated 21st at 8-4, will face the No. 17 Hawkeyes (10-3) in the Citrus Bowl. Milton, who recently completed his super senior season, stated on social media that he will forego the competition and instead pursue the 2024 NFL Draft.

Milton passed for 2,813 yards, 20 touchdowns, and five interceptions this season. He also had 299 yards rushing and seven touchdowns.

This announcement brings to an end a college career in which he put up some excellent stats.

Milton, a four-star quarterback out of high school in Orlando, Florida, signed with the Michigan Wolverines and spent three seasons at Ann Arbor, mostly as a backup quarterback.

He transferred to Tennessee in 2021 in the hopes of being the starter for head coach Josh Heupel, but he only lasted two games before a leg injury forced Hendon Hooker to take over. Milton was Hooker’s backup in 2022 and earned his first start this season.

He’s now one of the more intriguing quarterback prospects in the 2024 NFL Draft, but he’s well behind Jayden Daniels (LSU), Bo Nix (Oregon), J.J. McCarthy (Michigan), Michael Penix Jr. (Washington), Caleb Williams (USC), and Drake Maye (North Carolina).
